The move comes as a result of Google's desire to combine all of their existing cloud storage solutions into one cohesive app, something they've wanted to do since July. Google's cloud storage platforms - Google Drive and Google Photos - are getting new desktop clients. Users will simply migrate to the new 'Backup and Sync' application. What is happening is that the old version of the Drive sync client called “Drive for Mac/PC” will no longer be supported.

If you use Google Drive mostly through a web browser or Photos via Android, you probably won’t notice any changes. Google Drive and Google Photos are not going anywhere. If im on my laptop, and theres something important i want to bookmark, I have to go back to emailing it to myself.Update: On an earlier revision of this story, wording may have suggested that Google Drive was shutting down. Which pisses me off because then it makes so much more work for me. Sorry for the rant, but im extremely annoyed that something so easy as syncing bookmarks is so difficult. HOW HARD IS IT TO SYNC BOOKMARKS!?!?!?!?! Why come out with a product that only works half the time.

Im guessing it missed a bunch of other bookmarks as well, which basically makes the whole system unreliable. Also i deleted an entire folder last night, and its still there. Im on my mac now and they are nowhere to be found. Over the past week, i have noticed that sometimes it doesnt sync things - ever.įor instance, i bookmarked what games i wanted to buy from the amazon spring sale last night, to buy today when they went on sale. So a few weeks ago i decided to try out google sync, and right away i thought they fixed the problems, and made it so it actually works. (what if i bookmark something and then immediately close it?) In chrome - which i switched to - it doesnt, and you just gotta hope it does before you close out chrome. When i used it in firefox on windows, it would pop up before closing to make sure it synced. I used to use Xmarks, but wasn't happy with the syncing frequency.
